Sourced entirely from Syrah grapes, grown on south and south-east facing hillsides, this wine showcases the power and finesse of its grape variety. The grapes are all hand-picked at optimal ripeness, and the vineyard follows strict principles of sustainable agriculture. The 2021 vintage of "les Bécasses" boasts a rich, deep red color. On the nose, it reveals notes of raspberry, spice, violet, black olives, tapenade, and a touch of rosemary. The palate offers a full and profound attack, leading to a woody finish with hints of spice and vanilla.
"The 2021 Cote Rotie les Bécasses—a blend of different sites from Tupin up through St-Cyr—is peppery and herbal, with raspberry and cranberry fruit. Medium-bodied, silky and refined, it doesn't come across as underripe, except for perhaps the hints of cranberry and cedar on the tart but elegant finish."
