The renowned Burgundy micro-négociant Lucien Le Moine, owned by Rotem and Mounir Saouma, has expanded their portfolio in Châteauneuf-du-Pape by acquiring a few hectares of vineyards for their own estate in 2009. Mounir's approach is simple yet effective: improve drainage, use organic manures, and accept lower yields in order to produce the best wines possible. Starting with 5 acres in Pignan (adjacent to Château Rayas), they have now grown to 21 acres across 8 vineyards in 5 different villages (Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Bedarrides, Sorgues, Courthezon and Orange). This diverse range of terroirs is reflected in their unique winemaking process, which involves a combination of barrels, foudres, cement, and eggs. The resulting wines are nothing short of stunning, showcasing the precision, intensity, complexity, and expression of Châteauneuf in a Burgundian style.
