"The 2020 Côte de Nuits Village Clos du Chapeau has a fragrant bouquet with dark cherries and raspberry preserve aromas, just a very slight, tinny scent in the background. The palate is well-balanced with grainy tannins, dark berry fruit, quite spicy with good depth on the finish. A gutsy Côtes de Nuits Village."

"Moderate reduction knocks down the fruit so I would suggest decanting this if you're going to try a bottle young. Otherwise, there is both good energy and concentration to the medium weight flavors that conclude in a rustic and slightly edgy finish. It's hard to say whether the bottling caused this to be on the awkward side, but this clearly isn't ready for prime time."
