Moss Wood's entry-level Cabernets, Amy's, is a Bordeaux-style blend that's crafted for early enjoyment with its abundance of fresh fruit. Sourced from Glenmore vineyard, located just north of Yallingup, it features a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, and Petit Verdot. After aging for 18 months in 228-liter French oak barrels, it reveals a dense, midnight black core with a deep, dark red hue. Notes of ripe blackcurrant, plum, and liquorice are enhanced by hints of vanilla, cedar, earth, and mint. The mid-weight profile boasts fleshy blackcurrant and plum flavors, accented by a touch of blueberry for freshness. Delicate tannins, along with earthy, cedar, and bay leaf notes, linger on the finish. This youthful wine showcases exuberant blue and dark fruit flavors that contribute to its generous and long-lasting finish.

“On the one hand, this has flavours of very ripe fruit, and yet it seems disjointed with a rawness to the tannins and the oak imparting a bitter green walnut flavour onto the finish. It’s still coming together, so come back to this in another year or so to reassess.”
