Probably one of the most generous harvests in the history of Champagne, the year 1982 is a classic in terms of climate.
Heat from June through September with optimal rainfall when it was needed. Vines were well-rested from the previous small crops and conditions were right for wines of excellent ripeness and full character despite a record crop in terms of size.
The House did not hesitate to create Krug 1982 as the year had an interesting character and story to tell.
Krug 1982 is the result of blending opulent and powerful Pinot Noirs (54%), aromatic Chardonnays (30%) and spicy Meuniers (16%). Krug 1982 is a more full-bodied Krug vintage, less so than Krug 1959 or 1976 but reminiscent of the renowned Krug 1964 or even 1953.

"The 1982 Krug Vintage, tasted from magnum, is truly special. Soft, delicate and fully mature, the 1982 still offers a good bit of persistence and nuance. But it won’t last forever. This is about as good as it gets for the 1982."

"Not yet in its second life. Hasn't evolved enough to be in the Collection phase. Much paler and greener. Lovely sweet brioche nose. Very, very dense and tight and lively. Dom Pérignon-like. Creamy, fine, dense: lots of energy. Very, very tight. In between, long, tense, vibration. Very, very long (I could definitely see a relationship with the ‘64). Quite big and ripe."
