CAPANNELLE

The Capannelle winery sits of 20 hectares of land in the Gaiole region in Chianti, Siena. Previously owned by Raffaele Rossetti, who bought a 16th century farmhouse, production at the winery began in 1974 and the first Chianti was released in 1975. Since the humble beginnings, the winery has grown to produce a Chardonnay IGT, Solare IGT, Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG, as well as a red 50&50, a blend of Merlot and Sangiovese. The idea for the 50&50 blend was inspired by an exceptional harvest in 1988 and features an Avignonesi di Montepulciano-produced Merlot, blending the best of two worlds. Capannelle production extends beyond wine, and yields 800 litres of extra-virgin olive oil every year.
