Generous Spirit, Captivating Depth

Named in honour of Stephen Hansel’s mother, Alyce—remembered as the life of the party—this cuvée captures her exuberant spirit. Its character draws from a low-yielding section of the estate’s North Slope, where heavy clay soils help shape a richly concentrated expression of Pinot Noir.
The 2022 opens with ripe dark cherry, blackberry and plum, lifted by lavender and a subtle hint of pine. Clove, black pepper and menthol add aromatic complexity, while the palate is rounded and generous, with polished tannins providing a supple framework. Earthy undertones and smoky incense linger on the finish, bringing savoury depth to its succulent fruit.
We suggest pairing it with roast duck with cherry jus, herb-crusted pork loin, or wild mushroom risotto. Its dark fruit complements roasted meats, while its earthy, spicy nuances resonate with mushrooms and fragrant herbs. Cantonese roast duck would also make an inviting local pairing.
Already appealing for its generous fruit and rounded texture, Cuvée Alyce offers further drinking pleasure through approximately 2032, in line with both critics’ suggested windows. A rewarding choice for Pinot Noir lovers who enjoy richness, fragrance and savoury complexity—at the table today or from the cellar in years to come.
