Founded in 1998 by Alex Dale, Radford Dale embarked on an extensive search throughout the Cape to identify exceptional vineyard sites suitable for their specialist varietals. Currently, the company operates two production wineries.
The primary facility is located in Stellenbosch and focuses on sourcing maritime-influenced parcels from the Helderberg and Polkadraai areas. This location is noted for producing acclaimed single-vineyard wines such as Renaissance Chenin Blanc and Frankenstein Pinotage, as well as the Radford Dale Vinum range—a collection of six wines renowned for delivering exceptional quality relative to price.
In 2022, Radford Dale released its first vintage from estate-owned vineyards in Elgin under the Radford Dale Organic label, introducing four single-varietal Estate wines from the region’s only certified organic vineyards. The company has also played a pioneering role in sustainability by co-founding South Africa’s first Organic Wine Association.
Furthering their commitment to innovation, Radford Dale has reintroduced Gamay Noir to the Cape, establishing the first new plantings of this varietal in approximately two decades. Well-suited to warm climates and granite soils, Gamay aligns with Radford Dale’s philosophy of producing refined, vibrant red wines.
