Schlossgut Diel is one of the Nahe’s most respected family estates, based at Burg Layen and now led by Caroline Diel, the seventh generation of the family. The estate is especially admired for its finely etched, mineral-driven Rieslings, but also produces impressive Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, sparkling Sekt and Pinot Noir. Its key vineyards include the highly regarded Dorsheimer Goldloch, Burgberg and Pittermännchen, each giving a different expression of Nahe terroir — from slatey tension and citrus purity to richer stone-fruit depth and long, savoury minerality. The estate describes itself as family-run with about 25 hectares of vineyards, many on steep sites, while the Nahe’s mix of soils and cool-climate conditions makes it especially suited to elegant Riesling and Pinot varieties.
