First produced with the 1970 vintage, Rosso del Conte embodies Count Giuseppe Tasca d’Almerita’s ambition to create a Sicilian red capable of standing alongside the world’s finest. From Regaleali’s historic San Lucio vineyard, the 2019 blends 53% Nero d’Avola and 47% Perricone, matured for 18 months in new French oak barrels. It is a distinctive expression of Sicily’s native grapes, combining depth, energy and ageing potential.
Aromas of wild blueberry, raspberry and violet unfold with hints of incense, citrus peel and warm spice. The palate is concentrated yet lively, with juicy berry fruit, balancing acidity and a substantial tannic structure. Lingering sour cherry, earthy nuances and spice give the finish complexity and character—a wine that rewards time in the glass.
Pairs with rosemary-roasted lamb, braised beef cheeks with black olives, venison or aged pecorino. Serve at 16–18°C, opening at least an hour before serving.
