A richer, more concentrated step up from Rivera’s Salento Primitivo, made from 100% Primitivo grown in the Manduria DOC area, where the grape gives fuller body and darker fruit expression. It shows deep purple colour with ripe blackberry, dark cherry, plum jam, cocoa, liquorice, sweet spice and a touch of earthy warmth. The palate is full, smooth and generous, with velvety tannins, good freshness and a long, plush finish. Excellent with grilled beef, lamb, barbecue pork ribs, roast meats, spicy sausages, beef ragu, aged cheeses and rich tomato-based pasta. Rivera’s technical sheet notes old 50–60 year-old goblet-trained vines near Sava, manual harvest, stainless-steel fermentation and 12 months in French oak barriques before bottle ageing.
