Elegant and immediately expressive, showing ripe red fruit, plum, cherry, cassis, liquorice, subtle spice, cedar, sandalwood and a touch of chocolate liqueur. The palate is rounded and balanced, with juicy fruit, fresh acidity, firm but polished tannins and a long, persistent finish. It carries the warmth and ripeness of the 2022 vintage, but retains good Rioja freshness and structure. Excellent with roast lamb, grilled ribeye, beef cheeks, Iberico pork, suckling pig, chorizo, jamón ibérico, roast duck, mushroom risotto, lamb shank, oxtail stew, Manchego, aged cheddar and other hard cheeses. For local pairings, it will work well with char siew, roast pork belly, beef rendang, claypot beef brisket, lamb satay, bak kut teh with a richer broth, and soy-braised duck.
