The Chateau Musar Rosé is a refined and complex dry wine designed to age gracefully. Created in 1994 by the late Serge Hochar as an homage to the finest Champagne rosés, it is crafted from indigenous white grapes Obaideh and Merwah grown at 1200 meters altitude, with a touch of Cinsault added during pressing. This unique blend—60% Obaideh, 37% Merwah, and 3% Cinsault—is barrel fermented using natural yeasts and minimal sulphur, then matured for 12 months in new Nevers oak barrels, delivering a truly exceptional wine experience.
The 2017 displays a captivating gold-orange-salmon pink color and an aroma echoing the Chateau Musar white, featuring vibrant notes of tangerine citrus, rosewater, and a distinctive savory, exotic spice. On the palate, subtle hints of quince and vanilla unfold, complemented by a rich, glycerol texture that contrasts its low alcohol content. The wine finishes with a crisp, saline minerality, offering a refreshing and memorable tasting experience.
