"Ripe apples, star fruit, sour cream, roasted white sesame and fine lees. A medium-bodied chardonnay that underscores balance and supple fruit with leesy richness and a streak of fine toast. Fresh and smoothly rendered. Drink now."

"The 2020 Family Reserve Chardonnay has a moderate lemon appearance. On the nose, there is some ripe red apple, lemon peel, peach and nectarine fruit—very much in the profile of Helan Shan Chardonnay—with some subtle toasted oak notes of vanilla and clove (the 2020 saw eight months in small-format French oak of which 75% was new). On the palate, this is medium-bodied with some lively acidity and relatively low alcohol (11.5%)—in line with the earlier-picked style—as well as some creamy lees texture. Expect moderate concentration of similar apple, lemon and stone fruit with some savory new oak-influenced notes as well as that creamy lees character moderating the line of bright acid. With its moderate to longer length, the 2020 Reserve Chardonnay is already accessible and will drink well through 2023."
