Almost surrounded by water at the meeting of the Clutha and Kawarau rivers, Cornish Point is one of Felton Road’s warmest and earliest-ripening vineyards. It typically produces the estate’s most immediately generous and sensuous expression of Pinot Noir.
An expressive bouquet of plum, dried strawberry and dark cherry is layered with florals, balsamic notes and warm spice. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is supple and flowing, with ripe fruit wrapped in rounded, polished tannins. A fine seam of saline minerality and fresh acidity provides energy, keeping its natural richness beautifully balanced through the long, savoury finish.
Try with roast duck, char siu, five-spice pork belly, grilled lamb, soy-glazed salmon or mushroom dishes.
Drinking now–2035. Decant for around 30–45 minutes when serving.
