"Water in Provence was a real treasure almost a century ago. The great-grandmother Maria bought a magnificent hill in the heart of which flowed a beautiful spring at a high price. It carried out incredible water supply works and thus allowed the development and influence of Domaine Saint Gayan. This spring has been flowing without interruption ever since. The vines planted on this hillside at an altitude of 200 meters have an ideal North-West exposure in the climate.
In honor of Maria, they make with the grapes of these vines the Fontmaria cuvée. The sloping hillside is naturally well-drained, and the deep-water reserves make it possible to withstand the driest. The later maturity gives an incredible complexity to this cuvée.
Its long aging adds finely woody and spicy notes. A deep color, unparalleled sweetness makes it an exceptional cuvée. The Fontmaria cuvée is a wine for aging that requires a few years to reach an optimum that it will keep for a very long time. Aged 24 months in oak barrels, 12 months in new barrels, and 12 months in older barrels.
A blend of Grenache 80% and Syrah 20%.
Food pairing: Game and dishes in the sauce will enhance the Fontmaria like lamb roast, Jingisukan, Chicken Marengo.
