"The 2018 Mazoyères-Chambertin Grand Cru offers dark berry fruit on the nose; the deep soils lend concentration and hints of potpourri develop with time. The palate is very well defined with succulent black fruit and saturated tannins. Almost candied toward the finish, which leaves blueberry and cassis on the aftertaste. Perhaps Arnaud Mortet’s "sexiest" contribution toward this vintage."

"Mortet pursues the same strategy with his 2018 Mazoyères-Chambertin Grand Cru as with his Perrières, which is to say he declassified any bunches with fat berries from the parcel's younger vines; and, again, the result vindicates the effort. Wafting from the glass with aromas of sweet wild berries, cassis, burning embers and candied peel, it's medium to full-bodied, nicely concentrated and structurally refined. This is much better than the 2017 rendition."
