"The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes comes from three parcels of extremely old vines, one plot up to 120 years of age. Despite a little reduction, this is very intense, offering darker fruit than the regular Gevrey Village. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent red fruit on the entry laced with blood orange, fine tannins and a compact but quite sustained finish. A hint of fresh fig appears on the aftertaste. Superb."

"A more densely fruited nose speaks of plum, dark raspberry, warm earth and a whiff of the sauvage. The sleek, intense and markedly more concentrated medium-bodied flavors that are at once powerful and tautly muscular, all wrapped in a moderately austere, bitter cherry pit-inflected finish that flashes just a touch of warmth. This too is very good for its level and is also worth your consideration."
